Description
Rhythm and blues: Dr. John: Malcom John Rebennack Jr., was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Nov. 21 1940. An American singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist recorded over 20 albums. His music combines blues, pop, jazz, zydeco, boogie woogie and rock and roll. In late 1950's New Orleans he originally concentrated on guitar but his career as a guitarist came to an end when his left finger was injured by a gunshot while he was defending singer/keyboardist Ronnie Barron. He then concentrated on bass guitar but switched to piano as his main instrument and an important influence on his piano-playing style came from his friend Professor Longhair. He won 6 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame Mar. 14, 2011. The last time I saw Dr. John performing live was along with BB King at Massey Hall in Toronto in 2007.

Great colors and and composition. I love the simplicity of the subject and palette - just the essence of the man and his art which works well for me.
