Description
Weather vanes are popular decorations often mounted at the highest point on barn roofs. The origin of these wind mechanisms is highly debated and especially those designed incorporating the traditional rooster. Some sources state that The oldest weather vane with the shape of a rooster existing at the world is the Gallo di Ramperto, made in 820 and now preserved in the Museo di Santa Giulia in Brescia, Lombardy. (Wikipedia) This particular one is mounted on the top of my mother and dads (Campbells) barn in midway near Hotchkiss and Paonia, Colorado.
