Description
A perfect story-book farm, with its neat-as-a-pin red-roof barn and silver silo, so typical of the countryside of Virginia, is all tucked in for the winter.
The first snow here in the East Coast can be feet deep or gentle baby-flakes sifting down from the heavens like so many feathers and provide no more than a dusting to the land. We listen to the weather guys and bring up the latest info on our cell phone apps, but the truth of the matter is, until it's over and the inches or feet have been tallied up, we never know what we'll be in for.
And so those first flakes, be they feather- or snow-ball-size, bring on giggles of glee from the school children, groans of dismay from the parents, and sly smiles from the store merchants whose shelves will soon be denuded of milk and toilet paper.
This is the fourth version of my capture of the Paris Barns at Liberty Farm in Paris Virginia, Loudon County.
Loosely based on and hand-painted digitally from one of my own photos.
