Description
Just a trickle of water remains in the heat of this summer. The ancient Maple tree perched precariously on the limestone outcropping with its twisted roots looking for something to grasp onto. This is a common scene along the Bruce Trail in Ontario. It's a great place to while away a few hours on a hot summer afternoon, sitting in the shade and sketching.

Ramona, I love these tree roots! Roots saved my life when I fell into a fast moving creek as a little girl. My Dad couldn't hear me over the roar of the water, so I just hung on to tree roots I snagged! They were big and knarled like these. Good drawing. V

Wow Susan, that must have been so traumatizing. Can't imagine the fear that must have gone through you. Thanks for your comments.
