This classic artwork from the public domain was created in 1890 by French painter Jean Leon Gerome who was particularly known for his work in the academicism style. This reproduction image of the original oil on canvas painting, currently on display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, has been remastered and color corrected.

I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. I like to explore every nook and cranny of anywhere I visit and I'm always looking out for something unusual or unique, weird and wonderful, interesting and intriguing.
