Description
Memorial dedicated to the PRISONERS OF WAR and those MISSING IN ACTION from all of the wars in which our nation has been involved. Location is the VIETNAM MEMORIAL in Washington DC. Exhibited throughout the United States in Museums, One Man Shows, The Vietnam Traveling Wall, VFW Post's, Competitive Exhibitions, and VA Clinics. The first showing of this painting was held in 1988 at the Fenton Michigan VFW Post in conjunction with a visit from the United States Commander of the VFW who flew in from Washington DC. During his opening speech the Commander hailed the painting as very moving and a great work of art to honor those who are POW and MIA in the defense of our country. One of the first viewers to see the painting was a Vietnam Veteran who turned to me and said, "As I look into their eyes they speak to me." The two men in the foreground of the wall are Vietnam Veterans. This work of art is one of a kind and the original large framed pastel is now for sale for $10,000.00. Call or e-mail.

James, what made you decide to make the US Army patch on the veteran on the left and on his left shoulder the Blackhorse regiment patch ( 11th Armored Cavalry regiment) ? That was my unit in Vietnam, so I have ordered a copy of that print.
James Welch replied:
Thank you and WELCOM HOME! I attended a parade held in Flint MI. for VIET NAM VETERANS in 1988 and after the parade a gathering and party was given for the Veterans that was long overdue. There were a lot of various patches on their uniforms and I took photos of several vets to create a painting. I thought this was a good one because the POW-MIA patch really got to me!. I decided to use the Viet Nam Memorial Wall as the background. I believe this combination is called a Collage.
