This mid 19th century US Military History photo features President Abraham Lincoln engaged in a discussion with General George McClellan, commander of the Northern Forces on the Battlefield of Antietam. During the American Civil War, the Battle of Antietam was fought between the Union and Confederate Armies on September 17, 1862, near Sharpsburg, Maryland, and was won by the Union after registering casualties of more than 23,000 soldiers.
