In the Dominican Republic is a very mountainous and tropical area called the Saman� Peninsula. Saman� Bay is considered one of the top destinations in the world to watch whales, so we made the long, winding, harrowing drive over when we lived there on the north coast. Unfortunately, we were a bit late that season and only got to witness one mother and baby leaving the bay. I did however stumble across this amazing and colorful local fishing boat while exploring the beaches. It was still very much in use and the holes were stuffed with the pieces of blue cloth that can be seen in the image. Those awesome nets and the oars behind it were found exactly as they are shown. All those great colors made me wonder just how many times it had been painted.
