Description

One in a series of drawings I have made – some purely abstract, and others semi-abstract – where the paper has been divided into tiles that are either white or a shaded black, the shading sometimes seemingly arbitrary, and at other times emphasising a shape or line. It's a technique and style I started developing while doodling on Post-it notes during long night shifts while I was still in the Navy in 2001.

This particular one was finished around the time of the London Olympics in 2012, which inspired its title.
