Agaves bloom only once in their lives, in 3 to 10 years in an agave-appropriate climate, otherweise when they are between 10 and 25 years old, although certain species can take up to 100 years before they flower. And although a 15' tall stalk is already impressive, their stalks can get 25 to 30 feet high!
The original Agave plant blooms and dies with a ring of smaller offsprings around it.
The Agave is truly a magnificent plant!
Try Tequila, derived from the Blue Webber Agave from 1 of 3 regions in Mexico. The next thing you know you'll lie flat on your back, a mysterious rose thorn embedded in sapphire on a chain around your neck, you can't remember your name, and your mother is running the country.
