Artist's Description
This is the Old Veteran Cypress tree on the North Shore Trail of the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve in California. The Old Veteran continues to hang tough on the cliffs above Cypress Cove. It has been carbon dated to approximately one thousand years old. The hillside has eroded beneath it exposing its intricate root structure but the tree still grips the eroding cliffs defiantly.
