The inspiration for the painting is from my photo image "When the Sky Turns Color".

My goal in producing paintings from my panorama sunset photographs is to give the mood and feeling I felt when on location and photographing the scene. I began the painting May 13 and completed it on November 7, 2013. Twenty-three painting days and a lot of drying time between the many, many layers of this process. I consider sunset cloud paintings to be one of the most difficult subjects that I have painted and of the two that I have completed so far, this one appeared to be the more difficult of the two.
