This image is part of a series in which I experimented with creating layers of colors and bubbles by mixing corn oil and water tinted with food dye. The use of glasses and jars of a variety of shapes, inclusion of reflections and/or other objects also contributed to the abstract images photographed up close.

Sarah this is one of the things I like to do.. I like your idea also. I also have done it with a clear ashtray and multi color fabric.
