Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
I cannot keep away from the fascinating bird, the Pelican! Here is an abstract, shot wide open at the 400mm end of the canon 100-400mm f/4.8-5.6 L to give the thin depth of field focussing on the the mysterious appendage common to all Pelicans, the Mandibular nail. Thought to be used primarily as a hook and a securing mechanism for feeding, it may also play a role in courtship. This is the Australian Pelican, Pelecanus conspicillatus, one of the most brightly coloured of the pelicans, particularly around breeding time and just about my favourite of all birds :0)
