A winding, wending country road invites the traveler to explore the quiet and peace of the country.

North Fork Touchet is a paved road in Columbia County, Dayton, WA of the United States, and it makes its way past apple orchards and country farms before it heads up in altitude to the mountains, toward the ski area that attracts tourists during the winter months.

Eventually, the North Fork Touchet Road turns into a gravel road, winding its way through the trees of the forest, and one does not have the feeling of openness that one finds further down in elevation.

In the spring, the hills in the background are the traditional green we come to expect in many areas, turning to a deep gold as the summer heat and lack of water takes its toll on the grasses. By autumn, many of the bushes erupt into glorious blazes of color – oranges, reds, corals, rusts, and purples – adding the palette of fall to the countryside.
