Description
The blue hour of morning gives way to angry skies and seas as an incoming rain storm moves onto shore over Jennette's Fishing Pier in Nags Head, North Carolina. Traditionally, fishing piers along the Atlantic Coast of the Outer Banks barrier islands were built of treated wood. However, after incurring damage from relentless coastal storms these traditional piers have been in drastic decline. Real estate values have made the property that these structures occupy extremely inflated, and insurance rates continue to rise in light of the risky location. Standing in stark opposition to these factors, Jennette's Fishing Pier in South Nags Head was built to last, with reinforced concrete pilings. The pier should provide an ocean experience for many years to visitors who don't have access or can't afford to charter a boat.

Lovely atmosphere! Great shot, I have seen the pier in 2013 before a hurricane nearly destroyed it completely!
