Description
There's been a railroad bridge connecting Minneapolis to Nicollet Island since 1867. It's been rebuilt and changed a few times; this steel girder section was last redone in 1926. It's currently owned by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Nothing stops you from walking out on to it from the north end, but be alert, it's in frequent use. The 7 PM freight had just gone through, so it was ok to walk out onto the bridge as the sun was getting low.
