This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks

Artist's Description

The French Quarter, also known as the Vieux Carre, is the oldest neighborhood in the city of New Orleans. When New Orleans (La Nouvelle-Orleans in French) was founded in 1718 by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville, the city was originally centered on the French Quarter, or the Vieux Carre ("Old Square" in French) as it was known then. While the area is still referred to as the Vieux Carre by some, it is more commonly known as the French Quarter today, or simply "The Quarter." The district as a whole is a National Historic Landmark, and contains numerous individual historic buildings. It was affected relatively lightly by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, as compared to other areas of the city and the greater region.

About Inge Johnsson

Inge Johnsson

I have been photographing the beauty of America and other places around the world for over 30 years. My photographic work has won awards and has been frequently published in books, calendars and magazines such as National Geographic, Time, Popular Photography, Smithsonian Magazine, and Texas Highways. I use Canon full frame mirrorless and DSLRs with a full range of L-series lenses, and touch up my digital captures in Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop to recreate the artistic vision I felt and saw when the capture was made, and to make the images ready...
