Description
Question: Why do I make abstract selfies? Is it because of vanity, narcissism, the history of self portraiture, the current popularity of the selfie genre? Probably a little bit of all these but mainly for another reason. I am an experimental filmmaker/photographer. So when I discover an abstract reflection or get an idea to create an image it sometimes requires that I have to be in the shot. So the "selfie" becomes a means to capture something that I can see...or imagine that I can see. I think it is akin to being a movie director acting in his/her own movie.
Question: Why Las Vegas? I go to Las Vegas once or twice a year for business reasons. In the last few years I bring my camera. I take time to separate myself from business, Black Jack and the camaraderie of my friends and associates to take photographs. I see Las Vegas as a fantasy land that commercializes and exploits our instincts for sex, money and pleasure of any kind. Needless to say it is chock full of Bacchanalian images and bling, bling that make interesting photographs. Vegas can be fun too!
The things and images that Las Vegas is selling are timeless and often revealing of our culture. Hence my "Las Vegas Fantasies for Sale" and my "Man in the Mirror" series.
I don't usually explain what I do or how I do it unless I feel it ads to your appreciation.. In this case I think it does.

Thank you for your explaining words. I have never been to Las Vegas so far, but maybe I will be there in future. Indeed - "doing self-portraits" is an exploding current event. Everybody does. I am convinced it is a component do discern our own outside and inside Your work is extraordinary. There is a lot to think the other way round. The world is full of pleasure and pain. Just like white and black!

I never have been in Las Vegas but through movies it seems a fantasy land where anyone can find any kind of pleasure .My opinion is that your works show this illusion of pleasure by a wonderful way.
