chant of the changeling
scurryinghurrying down the twisted little lane
cobbled uneven dark between buildings
shadowed deserted unnoticed go i
dark cloak wrapped long and loose
hood up over bright hair
don't stare at me please
i belong not to this world
i am a fierce fleeting stranger
at first glance i slide into anonymity
but a closer look reveals
cross-slit eyes and feral wayward smile
don't try to bring me to the table
my untamed aura shines like the sulphur on a peat bog
weirdunholyotherworldly
not meant to be earthbound
emanating spectrally at odd hours
appearing
disappearing
unpredictable and wild
inconstant
a willothewisp of your darkest fancies
