Description
Euspira lewisii: Lewis's Moon Snail
This snail lives on the Pacific Coast from Mexico all the way to Vancouver Island. It's shell is approximately 4 to 5 inches in diameter and when the soft body is fully expanded, it is several times larger than the shell. The snail cannot stay in it's shell for long periods of time because it cannot breathe. These snails have a foot that when full expanded, can measure 12 inches, and is very effective for moving and grasping. Their life expectancy is estimated to be several years.
