Description
The capuchin monkeys are New World monkeys of the subfamily Cebinae. Preceding to 2011, the subfamily contained only aparticular genus, Cebus.
Though, in 2011 it was proposed to split the capuchin monkeys between the gracile capuchins in the genus Cebus and the robust capuchins in the genus Sapajus.
The range of capuchin monkeys includes Central America and South America as far south as northern Argentina.
This image was captured in the wild in Tortuguero, Costa Rica and if you notice this particular capuchin monkey has age written all over his face with even a few battle scars.
Each morning during my stay here the jungle would really come alive at first light and you could actually hear the sounds of monkeys and other animals getting active while hunting for food ripping through the trees like squirrels.
Tortuguero is surrounded by rivers and canals on all sides and everyday spent there offered up a new exciting experience.
If you elect to ever go on a tour through the small canals, you will be able to get a very close look at nature like never before.

Outstanding capture of this amazing creature Gary. You definitely had more luck with them than myself. Great details. f/v/t

Gary you captured his expression so well. I also like the vignette--it really makes the subject the center of attention.

The monkey's face insists on being the center focus -- what an achievement!
