Description
MISTY MORRO BAY is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.
Morro Bay is located on the coast of California near Hearst Castle and Big Sur.
Its famous landmark, Morro Rock, pictured here, was named by Portuguese navigator Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo in 1542. Cabrillo called the rock El Moro because of its resemblance to the head of a North African Moor wearing a turban.
Morro Rock is the best known of a series of ancient volcanic plugs called the Nine Sisters of San Luis Obispo County.
