Description
"Misty Fire Sunrise Geese at Whittlesey Preserve" by Patti Deters. This orange sky was one of the most intense colors I've ever seen in a cloudless sky. Whittlesey Creek National Wildlife Refuge is part of a large coastal wetland complex on the south shore of Lake Superior near Ashland, Wisconsin, located entirely within the Town of Barksdale, Bayfield County. An early morning drive along the shoreline often see fog and mist rolling in and over the marsh grasses from the Great Lake. The preserve is home to an abundance of birds and other wildlife, including this flock of geese we saw flying into the sun. This scenic panorama shows the trees and birds in silhouette.
