When the super-moon eclipse turned blood red the spectacular view of milky way emerged. I was traveling through Fruita CO (near grandjunction) at the time and so when I spotted the spectacular milky way I raced up the long road to Colorado national monument. When I arrived at my favorite trail in the park I hiked until i found this stunning tree casting a complex silhouette through the stars. On the way back to the car my phone died and so my only flash light did too. The dark trail was quite the challenge with no flashlight and when I finally got to the car, after much praying to not get lost, I vowed to carry a real flashlight in my camera bag. Looking back I was too focused on getting the shot to realize that relying on my cell phone for light was a bad idea.
