Sandhill Cranes are visiting Central California. They migrate down the Pacific flyway each year to warmer areas during the cold winters of Washington and Canada. These fascinating birds stand up to five foot tall. They mate for life and stay in family groups. They are communicate with each other through sounds and movements. They are well-known for their "dance". In this image, I imagine the male bowing and asking the female to dance. Her expression and body language tell me that she is considering his request but she is unsure. This is one of my favorites.
