... The forest beckons
as the sun
spills her light
though the fog and mist,
illuminating the meadow
and curling
around the heavy branches
of this big coastal tree.
Captured above the cliffs
on the coastline of Oregon
in the Siskiyou National Forest,
at the start of autumn,
when the leaves are beginning
to feel the weight of the fall,
yearning to turn their color
from greens to yellows and oranges.
The morning is completely still,
storm clouds receding
to the west
as the sun peeks out
in the east.
The grass is wet with dew
and raindrops
from the night before,
the forest renewed
as a new day begins...
