Description
The image I found was small. That limits the size of this print. The M1A1 Abrams Tank was manufactured by United States. It was named after General Creighton Abrams, former Army Chief of Staff Commander of U.S. Military forces in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972. This tank is equipped with a 1,500 horsepower jet turbine engine. It runs on JP8 jet fuel, but in an emergency it can run on gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, and kerosene. The M1 Abrams can travel up to 42 mph and is protected with a very strong layered armor and has a 120 mm smooth bore cannon, a thermal sight, and a laser range finder. It can hit targets up to 2 miles away and has 3 machine guns; one 50 caliber and two 30 caliber. The cannon shells are stored in a blow-out compartment for crew safety and it fires 3 or 4 different kinds of cannon shells. It is one of the most powerful tanks in the world. Weighing nearly 68 tons, the M1 Abrams is one of the heaviest main battle tanks in service.
It is not only equipped with a radio and field telephone, but it is digital. American armored vehicles and combat aircraft are equipped with computers and have their own internet. With this they can be aware of everything that is happening in real time, as it is happening on and near the battle field. If any one of a group of M1 Abrams Tanks on the battlefield sees a target, any one of those tanks can fire on and potentially hit that target within 1.5 to 2 mile range.
The tank is no longer manufactured, but after 4 to 6 years of service they are completely dismantled. The hull is stripped of the old paint and repainted. The entire tank is rebuilt with all new parts and it is refitted with all new computerized digital equipment. The engines are replaced with rebuilt engines and new upgraded features are also added. When it is finished, it is superior to the original model and basically is an ultra modern deadly and powerful new tank, something you wouldnt want to face in a combat zone in your worst nightmare. The crew is highly skilled and trained. This makes the M1 Abrams probably the deadliest, most powerful tank the world has ever seen.
The M1 Abrams entered U.S. service in 1980, replacing the M60 tank. The M1 is currently in use by the US Army, US Marine Corps and is sold to selected allied countries around the world.
