Description
Lydia works at a quilt shop in Berlin, OH....better known as Holmes County or Amish Country. She gave me permission to take her picture in order to have as a reference for a painting. The day I met her, she was wearing a green dress & was finishing up the binding around one of the handmade qults in the shop. As we were pointing out a specific quilt we really liked made of deep , rich shades of purple, she said that purple was also her favorite color. So, using artistic license, I took the liberty of changing her dress for the painting.

Such a lovely rendering of this quaint scene! The blending of colors and shadows in the dress are amazing! Your information is very interesting also! I should drive to Lancaster, Pa. and get some reference photos for some Amish paintings. I really enjoy yours. V/F

Thank you for your kind words and support, Angie. I have never made it to Lancaster yet....we have a large settlement of Amish here in Ohio that we visit from time to time, but I do hope to make it to PA someday. Thanks again!

Very nice work Marsha! That is such a great vantage point. Excellent work!
Marsha Elliott replied:
Thanks, Ken.....much appreciated. The vantage point works well here as the painting is more about what she was doing rather than her face.
