Description
male White-winged Crossbill in Quebec, Canada. This species is irruptive, which means that when their own food supply, the cone crop, in their normal range fails, they can move very far south to look for food. That amazing crossed bill will pry open cones to get up to 3000 conifer seeds in a day.
