Description
The critically endangered Hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), is named for its narrow head and hawk-like beak. They commonly grow to 2.5 feet and weigh 175 pounds. Some turtles become accustomed to seeing SCUBA divers. This one was huge and swam right up to us in Cozumel, Mexico!

Amazing photo! Great work. Voted

Thank you Amy! This turtle was HUGE. She (?) swam right up to us...Many of the older Hawksbills in Cozumel are acclimated to seeing divers. Some seem to know the "daily divemasters" and come by for a scratch on the shell. It's like a turtle spa! LOL

Thank you Elena! This turtle was so huge. She swam right up to us! The turtles in Cozumel, especially the older ones, are used to divers.
