FAA WATERCOLOR MARK DOES NOT APPEAR ON FINAL SALES
Took this sunset from the back of my boat as we were heading into port coming down Reynolds Channel, located in Long Beach, New York on the south shore of Long Island. Just as I was getting ready to photograph this sun heading for the horizon and reflecting off of the ocean, large dark clouds began to move in and while the sun was still giving off a beautiful yellow sky in the background I could see if we did not move fast we were going to get caught in a real summertime downpour. Reynolds Channel is a strait in Nassau County, New York which separates a barrier island that contains the City of Long Beach and the villages of Atlantic Beach and Lido Beach from Long Island and Barnum Island. The channel begins at the East Rockaway Inlet and ends at Point Lookout where it merges with the Jones Inlet. Four bridges cross the channel: Atlantic Beach Bridge; Long Beach Branch of Long Island Rail Road bridge; Long Beach Boulevard Bridge; Loop Parkway Bridge.

Clouds have always held my interest. They are all the same and yet, like snow flakes, not one is the same. The cloudiness in this image sets the mood of the scene, even more so than the setting sun. But i love the way you've captured the rays of the sun as well. v
