Description
My work is intended as a portrait of human nature, in which happiness is too often confused with money or fame. In this imperfect world I was compelled to discover for myself what was happening elsewhere. In this way, a fascination for unfamiliar places developed: a search for possible better worlds. Discovering a landscape, still untamed and unspoiled in spite of man, crossing steep mountain roads through the Andes, the lagoons, volcanoes and geysers, the desert, the sea. A world that forces us to question the essence of what it means to be human: to question our culture of consumption. Because I am an explorer, my work has evolved with my passion for travel. My style is fed by the powerful images I bring back with me. Whether it’s landscapes or portraits, there is always a duality of nature/culture represented by the harsh colours of the landscapes or by a mixture of geographic and organic forms in the portraits. The opposition of contrasting, blunt, yet complementary colours also expresses the duality of the need to withdraw from the world even as we desire to embrace it.
