Description
The Liberty Bridge, crossing the Danube in Budapest, Hungary, is a sight to behold for locals and tourists alike. Built between 1894 and 1896, its old world design and charm are a nod to an almost Victorianesque construction courtesy of the design by Janos Feketehazy. But whilst its beauty from both Buda and Pest, on either side of the Danube, can be dazzling, I found its beauty up close and personal to be even more enlightening.
The steel girders, punctuated by heavy bolts, that form the bulk of its design do not detract from its beauty or give it sense of bulk. Instead the cleverly crafted bridge takes on an almost feminine and delicate beauty despite the obvious rigidity of its design. This image has been processed in a high contrast black and white and cropped to an almost panoramic size to accentuate the presence the Liberty Bridge has on this section of the Danube River.
