Leonardo the Orangutan
Artist
Robert Lacy
Medium
Painting - Watercolour And Pencil On Illustration Board
Description
No offence to the great Leonardo da Vinci intended but rather a homage to the orang-utan, one of man's closet relatives and sadly one of the many species threatened with extinction. I painted this with intention of using it in a children's book. The verse I wrote to go with it follows:
Leonaro the orang-utan is really very smart,
He painted his sister Mona and produced a work of art.
Now he's building some invention for making wild-berry tea,
and all of this he's managed while living up a tree.

Love your flight of whimsy in this work, Robert. You don't often get poetry on FAA, but I like it! -- Joe.

I love this, Robert - beautiful illustration and I like the verse - it made me smile. I admire very much the work of illustrators because there is such attention to detail that you only find when you pay attention and look closely. Are you going to write and illustrate the book? It seems like a very worthwhile project and would raise awareness to a younger generation about the plight of orangutans. Anyway, best of luck to you. Bright Blessings
