The lovely and delicate lavender flowers of the Water Hyacinth. The water hyacinth or Eichhornia is a perennial aquatic plant. It is native to South America but is commonly found in tropical and subtropical regions throughout the world. It is so prolific that it is has become an invasive species. I can vouch for this personally, just one of these small plants in my pond spread vigorously and took over. It had to be aggressively pruned or else I wouldn't have had any bit of the water left to enjoy. In the end, the beautiful show of lavender flowers was worth the trouble.
