Description
Light microscopy of tumour growth of the human large bowel. These tumours are polyps classified as a tubuloadenomas and the epithelial cells have overgrown into abnormal gland-type structures. Adenomas of the bowel are benign but are predisposed to developing cancer, termed adenocarcinoma, which is a malignant tumour that spreads from its site of origin to invade local and/or other parts of the body. Polyps and adenomas may arise in response to many factors including exposure to carcinogens, high fat-low fibre diet, inflammatory conditions, and/or a family history of specific genetic disorders. Magnification x14 when printed at 10 cm wide.
