Description
A collection of floating lanterns, one completely decorated, most likely in remember of what a special person loved.
A Japanese tradition, the first Lantern Floating Hawaii ceremony on Memorial Day was held in 1999 at Ke`ehi Lagoon a bit northwest of Magic Island where it is presently held to accommodate greater numbers of attendees. It has grown each year in response to community demand. Thoughts and prayers from around the globe are set afloat to create a moment of collective remembrance, harmony and international friendship.
The artist, Mary Deal, is also an award-winning author of mystery/thrillers, a short story collection and writers' reference books. Read about it here:
