Description
I was lucky enough to come across a photo my grandmother took in 1978 of a beautiful Kuna woman. She was wearing mola panels that make up her blouse (it takes hundreds of hours to hand sew these extraordinary panels).
The Kuna women would wear head scarfs called muswe to cover their hair. Also, very long strings with glass beads called wini would be wrapped around their wrists and ankles, the wini would form wonderful geometric patterns. They would also use jaguar juice to draw a black line from the forehead down to the tip of her nose.
What outfit would be complete without jewelry, right? They would be adorned with a small gold nose ring, necklaces, earrings and gold rings on their fingers Lots of BLING! Seems all us woman come from many different times and places but we all like something sparkly. Makes me wonder what it would be like to live life if I was the woman in the picture, Hmmmmm
