Description
The telescopes atop Kitt Peak at the Kitt Peak National Observatory are silhouetted against the setting sun at the winter solstice. The Mayall 4-meter telescope at the right of the 6,883 foot summit and McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope at the left are clearly recognizable in this photograph made over 70 miles away from the Santa Catalina Mountains. Kitt Peak is southwest of Tucson, Arizona while the Catalina Mountains are to the northeast of the city. Between these two sky island mountains are the smaller, volcanic Tucson Mountains and two wide valleys.
This true panoramic view is formatted to the traditional 1:3 ratio for when a wide, colorful, unique and dramatic nature scene is desired to fulfill a demanding design requirement. It can be obtained in widths up to 9 feet in length with astonishing clarity.
