Description
Original Fine Art Photography by Donna Kennedy-
Photographed on SR 89 a half-mile north of Moqui Cave near Kanab, Utah
Kanab is a city in and the county seat of Kane County, Utah, United States. It is located on Kanab Creek just north of the Arizona state line.
Totem poles are monuments created by First Nations of the Pacific Northwest to represent and commemorate ancestry, histories, people, or events. Totem poles are typically created out of red cedar, a malleable wood relatively abundant in the Pacific Northwest, and would be erected to be visible within a community. The totem pole is built in three sections and the position of figures on the Totem pole are also significant. The bottom section of the Totem Pole is the most important as it displays the symbols and images in the most visible and prominent position. Totem poles are read from bottom to top.
