John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS), Florida, USA, from space. Mainland Florida is across top left. KSC occupies most of Merritt Island, which is separated from the mainland by Indian river. Just right of centre is a complex that includes the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), Launch Control Center and the Orbiter Processing Facility. Above and to the right of this is the Shuttle Landing Facility (runway). CCAFS occupies the triangular piece of land at lower centre left and is separated from Merritt Island by Banana River.
