James Douglas (1837-1918), American metallurgist and mining engineer. Douglas was the co-inventor of the Hunt-Douglas process for extracting copper. He helped found the Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Company and was its first president from 1908-1918. He also built the El Paso and Southwestern Railroad. The town of Douglas, Arizona, USA is named in his honour. Douglas was a winner of the John Fritz Medal, awarded by the American Association of Engineering Societies.
