Description
Isola delle Femmine (Isle of females) is located on the northern coast of Sicily and is part of the province of Palermo. Shaped over the years by the waves, is about 300 meters from the coast and has an uneven surface, gnarled and jagged.
Well-known in the area are the many legends that circulate on the Island of the Females, such as those that justify his name, according to one legend, many years ago the island was a prison where inmates were only women, but there are not testimony or other paper artifacts and reliable evidence.
A more exotic version tells of thirteen Turkish girls that guilty of very serious crimes, wereleft by their comrades on a drifting ship, a storm drove them towards the Bay of Carini where they lived for seven years. When relatives, repented of their actions, came to look for them, they decided never to return home and settle on the mainland; founded a town which, in remembrance of the peace made, called Capaci (from CCA-paci, here peace) and gave it the name "Island of the Females" islet where the girls had dwelt.
Another said that the Earl of Capaci imprisoned on the island his love, to keep her away from other men, the woman, however, did not return for the love of the count, one night she committed suicide by jumping from the rocks. Since that day, it is said that, at each anniversary of the death of that unfortunate woman, you hear the cries of despair coming from the little island at the point where there is the tower called "outside tower", near the highest point of 'island (about 35 meters). The "Tower outside" dates back to the XVI, has a square plan, a wall structure with a thickness of more than two meters and two cisterns for collecting rainwater. Today little remains of the tower left to the weather elements and to neglect.
In my mind the wave wanted to be a section of the Fibonacci golden spiral.
