Description
An Irish Sailor's Blessing
May the seas lie smooth before you. May a gentle breeze forever fill your sails. May sunshine warm your face, And kindness warm your soul. And until we meet again may god bless you and keep you safe.
The Irish prayer for sailing is a beautiful tradition that showcases the Irish people’s deep connection with the sea and nature. It is a simple yet profound expression of gratitude and hope, seeking the protection and guidance from the natural environment while also reminding sailors of the importance of kindness and reflection while out at sea.
The tall ship Barque Picton Castle is based in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada and best known for its international long distance sail training voyages. Picton Castle is rigged as a three-masted barque, 179 feet long with 12,500 square feet of sail.
