Description
Not everyone realizes how much artwork there is to old cemeteries, particularly ones from around the time of the 19th century when park-like cemeteries really hit their zenith. And even without looking up the history of Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin, I would have been sure that was the relative time period when the cemetery, also known as Prospect Cemetery, came into being.
Since its founding in the early 19th century, it's become the largest non-denominational cemetery in Ireland. Over a million souls call this cemetery home today and it's still in active service.
In the dead of a cold winter, I roamed this place very nearly alone yet not. There's a sense of peace to these places that I think I captured in this angel statue in the bright winter sun. Can you feel it?
