Description
This black and white photograph shows the side of a Chevrolet Impala which was found in the woods at a Georgia junk yard. Covered in mold, dirt, stains and rust the old car has seen it's better days. This photograph features the arrow type emblem which travels down the side of the Impala. The chrome of the emblem is very pitted and stained.
Please note that this photograph is not meant to be a documentation of the car. It was photographed as a piece of art. Although a tripod was used which would have allowed a tremendous depth of field, that is NOT the effect I wanted. Back near the flags, where the arrow is at it's widest is the start of the gradual "out of focus" area begins. Where the widest part of the arrow becomes the long, slender part of the arrow is where the image is tack sharp. At this focal point, every piece of dirt, ever bit of mold and moss and every every pitted spot of the chrome is sharp. The amount of detail is amazing. From this point the focus of the photograph becomes less sharp as you travel toward the point of the arrow. The reasons for this focal transition, I leave to you, the viewer to interpret.
One last note. I am a big fan of black and white. I love the art of the lack of color. A color version of this photograph is available. The Impala in this photograph is Green, which because of the way the photograph was taken the green becomes "IN Your Face Green". If you want a piece of In Your Face Art, you may want to take a look at the color version.
