M�vatn is an ecologically rich lake sitting in a volcanically active region of northeastern Iceland. The lake and surrounding region is renowned for its rich biodiversity and unique geologic formations and activity. The lake was formed approximately 2,300 years ago, following a significant eruption. During the summer months, the lake is a popular destination for many bird species, from both Europe and North America.
