Sculpture - Alabaster And Ebony
Description
Carved from a single piece of Italian Crystal Alabaster the vase is carved to a thickness of 1/8th of an inch. Each vase is trimmed with ebony to enhance the form. Vases are signed, dated and numbered.
Lit by moonlight these delicately carved Alabaster bowls transcend their form and become 'Children of the Moon', emanating a powerful and peaceful presence. Like celestial beings, they carry messages that speak to us about our most profound questions. They speak of beauty and of hope.

Such a beautiful vase, Leslie. I loved many of your pieces, but this one called to me to comment on. I am absolutely astounded at your ability to work with such fine thicknesses. Very nice! v/fav

Thanks Kathy. And might I say I like your work as well. All your paintings are alive with color and warmth and you can see your sense of humor in the themes you choose. As for the vase yes, I can truthfully say that I held my breath most of the time as I carved it. As I carved the vase I could hear the stone change pitch 'like when you rub the rim of a wine glass'. It's at that point you back off and then start the process again and continue carving until the stone starts to sing again. No point doing something easy lol
