Many times on walks I will see snakes!! Most are non-poisonous, but there are times I will see a poisonous one! This one is non-poisonous and is the King snake! At the time I was taking the photo's I wasn't sure as to which he was. Lol I am not one to go picking them up anyway!!! He looks a lot like the Coral snake which has the same colors, but IS poisonous. You have to remember the rhyme - "red touch black friend of jack", this is the king snake. "Red next to yellow kills a fellow", and this is the Coral snake!!! I found this King snake going up a palm tree. At this point he pause to look at me, and then made his way all the way up the tree and out of sight.

I found out today that most poisonous snakes have a pupil that resembles a cat's; an oblong shape with peaked ends, like a slit in the center of the eye. Non-venomous snakes usually have round pupils. However, the coral snake, a very venomous snake, has round pupils. I do not think I would ever get close enough to see his eyes! Great capture Marvin and for the reminder of the rhyme!

Marvin, I lived in Ft Myers back in the 70`s building bridges along 95...I saw as many snakes in Florida as I did over seas. You certainly have your share. I`ll let you put the gold medal on this bad boy. Beautiful work bro l.v.f.
